Solving TIPS & HINTS
Remember that
every letter MUST have a different value, so if you have already
found beyond doubt
that O=19 then NO OTHER LETTER CAN TAKE THAT VALUE.
NO LETTER CAN HAVE
A VALUE > 26
Letter values can be ONE or TWO
digit values.
(that is the
hardest part to grasp with Alphanumeric Puzzles)
Until the
values 1
and 2 have been assigned, you
will find that
You often need to
hold onto alternative values for letters.
Eg. It may be that for a while know that a letter
Has a value 1 OR
12 , or, 2 OR
23 etc
These alternatives
are crucial components to hang onto until it can
be proved which
value is correct beyond doubt.
A correct letter
value ALWAYS becomes obvious in the end.
Progress is made
by always carefully selecting the next BEST word:
Usually a word
with the most already established
letters-values included.
Each puzzle starts
tough, and gradually gets easier as letter values are established,
and as unsolved
grid-space becomes more scarce.
You will know if you have solved
each puzzle correctly,
but if you have any problems, or
wish to contact Alan for a grid solution.
